The Beatnuts—often referred to as Street Level—is the group’s 1994 debut and widely considered their best album. It is also the first and last full-length LP recorded as a trio, with JuJu, Psycho Les, and Fashion all involved throughout.
All of the production is handled by the group themselves, and that uniform approach gives the album a clear direction and cohesive feel. Built from Latin records, jazz breaks, and hard drums, the beats stay consistent without sounding repetitive. Tracks like “Props Over Here,” “Hit Me With That,” and “Ya Don’t Stop” capture the balance between street records and the Beatnuts’ loose, playful energy.
