His first album for Def Jam came with major-label resources and production from Kanye West, The Neptunes, and longtime collaborator Mike Dean, creating a sound that felt both broader and sharper than his earlier Rap-A-Lot work. The single “My Block” anchored the album with reflection and pride, while “Guess Who’s Back” with Jay-Z and Beanie Sigel brought him to a new audience. The Fix proved Scarface could evolve without losing his core—mature, grounded, and quietly one of the best rap albums of its era.
