New Order’s debut captures the group in transition after Joy Division, still leaning on dark textures but beginning to experiment with melody and rhythm. Martin Hannett’s production keeps everything tight and minimal, giving it a distinctive atmosphere. “Dreams Never End” and “Senses” point toward the more electronic sound they’d later perfect, making Movement a key early chapter in their evolution.
