Released originally on June 5, 1978, L.A. Master is a landmark Jazz fusion album by acclaimed Japanese jazz guitarist Kiyoshi Sugimoto, originally released in Japan on the Express label. The album represents a pinnacle of late-70s Japanese fusion, blending precise guitar performance with slick, disco-infused jazz-funk. Sugimoto composed and arranged every track on the album himself. He led an exceptional studio lineup of top-tier session and crossover musicians of the era, including Yasuaki Shimizu on saxophone, Haruo Togashi on keyboards, Akira Okazawa on bass, and Yuichi Togashiki on drums.
