After a messy split and years apart, Brand Nubian came back together in 1998 with all four original members on deck — Grand Puba, Sadat X, Lord Jamar, and DJ Alamo. The result is Foundation, a true reunion album that surprised a lot of heads by sounding focused and fresh rather than dated. Production came from outside heavyweights like DJ Premier, Lord Finesse, Diamond D, and Buckwild, giving the group a polished but street-level backdrop. Cuts like “Don’t Let It Go to Your Head,” “Probable Cause,” and “Let’s Dance” showed they could still balance Five Percenter messages with party-rocking energy. A late-’90s comeback that holds up as one of their strongest records.
