The album that blew the doors open for hip-hop on a global scale. Produced by Rick Rubin and Jam Master Jay, Raising Hell fused hard rock guitars with booming drum machines to create a sound built for arenas. “Walk This Way” with Aerosmith made history, but the rest of the record—“It’s Tricky,” “Peter Piper,” “My Adidas”—proved the group didn’t need crossover gimmicks to dominate. Tough, clean, and instantly memorable, Raising Hell became the first rap album to go multi-platinum and set the standard for what hip-hop could be at full volume.
